The CMM Program

Achieving the International Marina Institute (IMI) Certified Marina Manager (CMM) designation is the assurance that your future can be both financially and professionally rewarding. It is a major step toward international recognition as a senior marina manager who has distinguished himself or herself as an outstanding professional.

CMMs span the globe, living and working in six of the seven continents. The  IMI based in the United States, has been certifying marina mangers for over 15 years. In conjunction with IMI, Marina Industries Association Australia (MIAA) offers the CMM program in Australia to marina managers from the Asia-Pacific region.

The CMM program is a global organisation characterised by the open sharing of experiences, ideas, and information, it forms a community of professionals whose networking opportunities are unmatched. You can affiliate with prospective mentors, clients, partners, and potential employers You will enjoy the interchange of valuable information which can only come through association with fellow professionals. The CMM program is your "Marina Industry Think Tank"

Am I ready to become a CMM candidate

You have 5 years Marina General Manager experience, during the five years you must have done all of the following

• Managed a marina operation with annual gross operating revenue of at least $1million AUS
• Managed a marina business with at least 100 boats in berths, mooring and/or dry stack
• Spent at least 60% of  management time on:
1. Financial planning
   
2. Marketing and Customer Relations
   
3. Staff administration
• Managed at least 6 employees
• Be currently in the marina management business
• Have completed a high school diploma or equivalent
• Be a current financial member of  International Marina Institute (IMI)
• Be a current and active member of the marine trade association which covers your region (MIAA)
• Completed the Advanced Marina Management School
• Can satisfy the review committee that your marina management experience passes the 16 point test (see AMI CMM handbook (PDF, 129KB))
