The Intermediate Marina Management School (IMM), is
offered by the MIAA (Marina Industries Association Australia) in
partnership with the IMI (International Marina Institute, USA). This
popular program focuses on marina operations, policies and procedures
and exposes students to innovative ways of dealing with the issues and
challenges common throughout the industry. Marina management
professionals offer their expert thinking about business issues,
policies, practices and challenges throughout the industry.
Topics include:
- Marine-law contracts
- Risk and liabilities
- Fire and emergency-response planning
- Environmental management
- Health and safety compliance, and
- Personal self-improvement skills.
Students
engage in a variety of individual and group projects as they learn
about policies, practices and new solutions to traditional management
challenges that have been successful in other regions of the country as
well as other nations.
Through discussion, debate and the
sharing of ideas and information, those who take this course broaden
their knowledge and improve practices to return to their marinas with
new perspectives and fresh approaches to management. And not to
be under-rated is the establishment of a long-lasting network of
contacts in the industry.
The IMM program is the
first step toward becoming a Certified Marina Manager (CMM) and is a
prerequisite for admission to the Advanced Marina Management
course. Sending a fast track manager to this course acts as an
excellent incentive and reward.

course requires the applicant to have experience of at least one full
year working either as a marina manager or in a marina leadership
