CLUB MARINE MARINA OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2017-2018

The biennial Club Marine Marina of the Year Awards recognise excellence and leadership in our industry and provide important benchmarks for industry and the wider community. This year there are 15 categories available for entry which will enable more businesses in the marina industries to benefit from the awards and the awards process.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Multiple award categories are open for entry to all sectors of the industry- marinas, yacht clubs, public boat harbours, dry stack facilities, service and supply companies as well as marina people. In addition there is also a category for International marina members as well as Best Marina Restaurant.

2017- 2018 MARINA OF THE YEAR CATEGORIES, FEES AND CRITERIA

Multiple entries are permissible unless specified within the criteria provided but please contact the MIA if in doubt as to eligibility.

All fees are quoted in Australian dollars and fees paid by credit card will incur a 1.01% surcharge.

N.B:Winners of two consecutive award competitions in any of categories 1-5, 11,12 and 13 will not be eligible to enter the Awards competition for the same category or for any of categories 1-5, 11, 12 and 13 for a period of six (6) years. The facility may be eligible for entry into the MIA Hall of Fame for a specific category.

AWARDS PROCESS - KEY DATES

JULY 30 - AUGUST 1 2017 MARINE17 CONFERENCE & TRADE EXHIBITION - PRESENTATIONS TO WINNERS AND FINALISTS

All submissions are to be supplied electronically in pdf format to the MIA by C.O.B. MARCH 1, 2017 - a streamlined system designed to make the process easier for busy marina managers, facility operators and other members. Entries typically require a maximum of one [1] page per question and consist of an average of 8-10 questions per category.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE -MARINA EMPLOYEE ONLINE VOTING PERIOD

The strongly contested and popular 'Marina Employee of the Year' award is conducted via an online voting system which takes a couple of seconds to complete and attracts hundreds of entries. Online Voting will open on December 1 2016 and close March 1 2017.

BENEFITS OF AWARDS

The benefits of participating in the Awards are significant. There is extensive publicity and a two year marketing opportunity for winners and finalists. Trophies and exclusive use of logos are benefits in some categories and all winners are presented with a framed award certificate, coinciding with the biennial International Conference and Exhibition, the next being Marine17. For all entrants the process can be rewarding through taking time to reflect on achievements and to document the measurable outcomes of these achievements.

AWARDS PROCESS

The awards will be judged by an industry panel on May 11, 2017 with representation from the Boating Industry Association, other industry groups as well as the principal awards sponsor, Club Marine. Finalists in the major categories are site audited prior to the judging panels' final deliberations.

The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Award entrants will be encouraged to attend Marine17 and specifically, a representative is required to attend the Marine17 Awards Dinner/Welcome Function where the awards will be announced and presented.
