CSM - Certified Service Manager

CSM's have a least 5 years Marine Service Management experience.

Certification as a Certified Service Manager is a brand of excellence for your career growth within the international networks.

The Global Marina Institute (GMI), an educational partnership between the British Marine Federation (BMF) and Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA), offers the CSM program in Australia, UK and Europe.

CSM Certification is an important career step. It documents your career experiences and management training. It is the only credential of its kind in our industry.

Prerequisites and Career Pathway

  • Be currently employed full time as a Service or Repair Manager or in an equivalent leadership role.
  • Accumulated 5 years of effective marine service management (as general service manager) experience. Three of these years must be the immediate past three years.
  • Completed the Marine Workshop and Service Managers Program
  • Complete a personal interview with a CSM Member representing the GMI Review Committee. (This requirement may be waived in some cases)
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalency
  • Remain a member as an individual or boatyard where CSM applicant is employed in good standing of ABBRA. Continued membership, as an individual or boatyard, in ABBRA is also required to retain your standing as a CSM.

CSM Annual Reaccreditation

CSMs are expected to continiously improve and are expected to annually submit a record of their Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

The requirements for reaccreditation are:
