Course Information

The one day Marinas 101 course provides the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of marina operations. It is of great value to people who are new to the marina industry and who do not yet have the experience required for MIA's other management training courses.

The Marinas 101 course opens the door to a network of industry professionals who are willing to share their wealth of industry knowledge and experiences. Through the course, participants can start build a soild foundation in the marina industry and gain an insight into the complex and important issues facing marinas currently.

Course Content

1 Day Marinas 101 Course covers:

  • Marina terminology, procedures and facilities
  • Work health and safety
  • Emergency procedures - fire, oil spills, vessel sinkage
  • Marina maintenance and procedures
  • Day-to-day operations eg. inspections, berth occupancy, security
  • Customer service
  • Marina site inspection

Prerequsites and Career Pathway

There are no prerequsites for this course and it is not a prerequisite for other MIA courses. It lays a solid foundation in operational knowledge of marinas and initiates a career pathway in the marina industry.

Who Should Attend?

The course is of great value to people who are new to marinas, work for councils or government organisations and for marina employees. It provides an opportunity to broaden their understanding of the marina community and learn the basics of marina management and operations.

Course Fees

MIA Members: $550.00 (incl gst) per person

Non-MIA Members: $715.00 (incl gst) per person

Fees include: course folder and presentation, morning and afternoon teas, lunch and marina tour.
