Ocean Marina Jomtien - Thailand's First Platinum 5 Gold Anchor Marina

Tuesday 18, Mar 2025

Today, the Marina Industries Association (MIA) announced that Ocean Marina Jomtien, in the Gulf of Thailand in Pattaya, is Thailand’s first Platinum 5 Gold Anchor Marina. This global accreditation is the highest accolade awarded in the industry and is reserved for marinas that offer their customers a comprehensive and unique marina experience by providing unparalleled boating facilities, tailored and personalised service, and an outstanding array of high-quality amenities.

With over 450 modern berths, providing safe anchorage for yachts up to 75m, full vessel maintenance facilities supported by a broad range of onsite marine trades and service providers and premium leisure facilities, Ocean Marina Jomtien is southeast Asia’s largest marina and the gateway to yachting in the Gulf of Thailand.

As a favoured superyacht berthing destination, the marina has also been accredited as a Superyacht Ready Marina, one of only four accredited in Asia.

MIA President Andrew Chapman CMM has visited the marina a number of times and wasn’t surprised by the assessment outcome, explaining, “In addition to its berthing and maintenance services, this impressive marina complex incorporates a full-service resort including a 76-room hotel, an array of food and beverage options and high-quality leisure facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gymnasium, steam rooms and saunas.  Business needs can even be taken care of on the go, with access to a full range of business services, including meeting spaces.”

On being informed of the Platinum 5 Gold Anchor accreditation, Marina Manager Scott Finsten CMM said, “We have worked very hard for this.  I am so very proud; this is a tremendous achievement for our team.  We examined every one of the 86 criteria assessed and set about determining what we needed to do to meet the Platinum 5 Gold Anchor standard for each one.  It was a great way to analyse our operations, but importantly, it was a wonderful bonding experience for the team to work together to pursue this goal.  It is wonderful for them all to share in this great achievement.”

Last year, Ocean Marina was recognised by the Robb Report Yachting Awards for “Best Marina Berth Facilities in Thailand”.  Napong Paripontpochanapisuti, Managing Director of Ocean Property Co. Ltd, said, “We are very proud to be Thailand’s first Platinum 5 Gold Anchor marina. While we are very proud to be recognised for our facilities, we appreciate that it is our team who deliver what is most important, and that is a very high level of personalised service, and we are very proud and grateful to them”.  The marina’s customers clearly agree, as an independent survey of the marina’s berth holders is part of the Gold Anchor assessment, and the marina scored an impressive 97%.

The Platinum 5 Gold Anchor accreditation will be formally presented at the 2025 Nautilus Marine Insurance Marina of the Year Awards on 6 May in Sydney. Ocean Marina Jomtien was also recognised for its environmental commitment with an International Clean Marina accreditation and has taken the Marine Sustainability Pledge.

Global Gold Anchor Accreditation
Gold Anchor is an international accreditation and rating program that indicates the level of services and facilities provided by a marina.  The accreditation benchmarks 86 criteria across all areas of the business, including service, the provision of on-and-off-water facilities, and management practices.  The rated assessment option provides a professional and independent evaluation of the operation and incorporates an externally conducted customer survey.  The accreditation process provides significant business benefits, including establishing benchmarks, standards and improvement pathways.  It serves as a useful tool to share with insurers, regulators and other stakeholders to demonstrate levels of compliance and operational management.  The international program has accredited over 200 marinas across 27 countries and is a joint venture initiative between the Marina Industries Association (MIA) and The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA).  TYHA delivers the Program in the United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.  The MIA delivers the accreditation in Australia, Asia-Pacific and in the USA. A complete listing of all Gold Anchor marinas can be found at www.globalgoldanchor.com.

Superyacht Ready Accreditation
Launched at the end of 2021, Superyacht Ready is an accreditation designed to help Superyacht skippers and owners identify marinas with the capacity and capabilities required to provide safe and adequate berthing for Superyachts. Superyacht Ready is available to Gold Anchor accredited marinas that satisfy the program’s assessment standards. The Superyacht Ready criteria is based around the suitability of the marina’s infrastructure to accommodate superyachts, accessibility for superyachts, security measures and service availability.
